April Event in Blue Ridge, Georgia
The Blue Ridge Trout & Outdoor Adventures Festival, set to take place on April 27, 2024, in Blue Ridge, Georgia, is a vibrant celebration recognized officially as Georgia's trout festival. This event, now in its seventh year, is presented by the Blue Ridge Mountain Trout Unlimited (chapter 696) and is scheduled from 10 AM to 6 PM, rain or shine, at the Downtown Blue Ridge City Park. The festival is a testament to the region's status as the "Trout Capital of Georgia," offering a day filled with activities centered around trout fishing and outdoor recreation.
For a $10 entry fee (with children 12 and under entering for free), attendees can immerse themselves in a wide range of outdoor activities. The festival showcases casting, paddling, hiking, climbing, and biking, alongside wildlife artists, live music, craft beer, local wines, and great food. It stretches across the downtown area, providing a picturesque setting for over 4,000 visitors expected to attend. The festival's location, just 90 minutes north of Atlanta and 60 minutes from Chattanooga, makes it an accessible destination for outdoor enthusiasts from various locations.
One of the new highlights this year is the Toccoa River Tagged-Trout Fishing Derby, adding an exciting competitive angle to the festival. The event not only emphasizes the joy and sport of trout fishing, particularly fly fishing, but also the broader appeal of outdoor activities such as kayaking, mountain biking, and more. With over 100 vendors of outdoor art, services, activities, and gear, plus sessions of instruction and information centered around fishing for trout and outdoor recreation in the vicinity, the festival promises a comprehensive and engaging experience for all attendees.
Local outfitters and guides will be on site to share their knowledge on the best practices for catching rainbow, brown, and brook trout in the region's waters. The festival also includes an activity zone with fish-bike-kayak demos and programs, a climbing wall, a trout-fishing pond, long-saw crosscutting, axe throwing, gem mining, and more. The food court and beer/wine garden will feature new and returning vendors, offering local craft beer and hard cider, among other beverages.
In summary, the Blue Ridge Trout & Outdoor Adventures Festival is a celebration of the great outdoors, specifically trout fishing, in Georgia's beautiful Blue Ridge area. It's an opportunity for fishing enthusiasts, families, and anyone interested in outdoor activities to learn, explore, and enjoy a day filled with fun, education, and community? (BlueRidgeTroutFest)
